Career Technology Student Organizations (CTSO)

Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional position responsible for providing leadership and technical assistance to Career Technology Student Organizations (CTSO) to ensure increased school and student performance, as measured by Maryland's statewide assessment programs, and for providing assistance to CTSOs, school districts, and business partners to improve Career and Technology Education (CTE) program quality; additionally will provide support to two Career Cluster Teams and contribute to the ongoing development of CTE programs of study.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides leadership and technical assistance to CTSOs, local school systems and business partners in the integration of CTSO products and services into CTE programs; coordinates statewide conferences and competitive event activities related to CTSOs; participates in and contributes to the on-going development of CTE programs of study and implementation of the Career Clusters; develops and implements plans to improve CTE program quality and capacity, including increased participation of special populations in CTE programs, restructured instructional delivery and integrated career development plans;  participates in school improvement initiatives related to Career and Technology Education.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:  Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in Education, Educational Administration/Supervision, Public Administration, Student Services, Information Management Systems, or in any related field.

EXPERIENCE:  Four (4) years of professional administrative, student services, or teaching experience in or affiliated with an education program including two (2) years of experience in coordinating or administering an education program or service directly related to the position.  Experience in an area related to conference coordination, student services, and/or a related field is preferred.

NOTE:   Two years of additional exp. as defined above may be substituted for the Master's Degree.                      

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of State and Federal laws, regulations, policies, issues regarding educational  accountability and student performance, and CTSOs; knowledge of the Carl D. Perkins Act; skill in responding to problems and inquiries from local school systems, community colleges, and business partners; skill in developing and leading workshops and conferences; ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with diverse populations; ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing through the presentation of concise yet comprehensive training, analyses, and reports.
