This is a professional position responsible for interpreting psychological evidence, prescribe psychological evaluation needs and participate as the psychological examiner in the adjudication of Social Security and Supplemental Security Income disability claims.
Reviews and interprets psychological evidence to establish the existence, severity, onset, duration and potential for remediation of mental impairments; analyzes the sufficiency of psychological evidence to evaluate disabilities; assesses the severity of impairment and describes the functional limitations imposed; prescribes further development of psychological evidence from treating sources or consultant examiners; prepares a written opinion to include a statement of findings, assessment of severity and description of residual functional capacity; assures integrity of opinion based on psychiatric and psychological evidence in file, makes telephone contact with treating sources to obtain clinical data. Provides consultation and training to disability examiners.
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.
Experience: Two years of experience rendering psychological services or engaged in psychological research after receipt of the License as a Psychologist.
License: A photocopy of the current registration card must be attached to the application.
Ability to interpret medical evidence to establish severity, onset and duration of medical evidence and records results on federal forms electronically; ability to analyze the sufficiency of psychological and psychiatric data and describes functional limitations according to federal regulations; ability to speak, explain complex medical and programmatic issues as they relate to SSI and SSDI regulations; and provide consultation and training to disability examiners.
