This position is responsible for providing secretarial and clerical support for the Regional Manager of the Office of Child Care and her/his subordinates well as supporting the child care community in Howard and Carroll Counties.
Processes child care applications including Childcare Background Checks (CBC’s) and releases utilizing Child Care Administrative Tracking System (CCATS), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and Children’s Electronic Social Services Information Exchange (CHESSIE) systems; types letters, reports, licenses, forms, and correspondence and other requested materials; processes all incoming and outgoing mail, CJIS correspondence, and faxes; receives and distributes referrals and messages; answers and refers incoming calls and walk-ins visitors to appropriate staff; schedules prospective provider attendance for orientation meetings.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a typewriter or keyboard on a personal computer, computer terminal or work processor at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
