This is a Political Special Appointment position serving as the executive assistant to the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) responsible for providing direct administrative, financial, secretarial, and technical support. This position also provides support to the operations of the Divisions of Early Childhood Development, Special Education/Early Intervention Services, Curriculum, Assessment, and Accountability, Career and College Readiness, and Library Development and Services.
Coordinates administrative coverage of the Office for Teaching and Learning; oversees and manages the day-to-day administrative operations of the Office of Teaching and Learning; manages the CAO’s calendar, mail, telephone and email request and determines the appropriate course of action for response; serves as intermediary for the CAO; coordinates logistics for meetings, conferences, and seminars; composes routine and complex correspondence for the CAO, the State Superintendent of Schools, and the Governor; reviews correspondence prior to distributing; designs, develops, and prepares exhibits, reports, publications, and presentations; provides support to workgroups, task forces and committees as requested; carries out special projects as requested by the CAO.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative support to a senior or executive level manager. Two years of the above experience must have included Office Management.
Note: Completion of two years of study at an institution of higher education or possession of an Associate’s Degree in secretarial science or office technology is preferred.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of office management; knowledge of standard business English; extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook; skill in organizing and managing multiple tasks to ensure timely production and delivery of materials; skill in interpreting and summarizing information; skill in preparing a variety of complex documents, including correspondence, reports, handouts, databases, charts, graphs, and spreadsheets to a high level of accuracy; ability to communicate clearly and effectively, using correct grammar, spelling, and language conventions, in all written documents and correspondence and in all verbal communications; ability to exercise sound judgment in researching and answering inquires; ability to establish and maintain effective harmonious working relationships.
