This is a contractual (no benefits provided) professional position serving as an Early Learning Curriculum Specialist responsible for coordinating the professional development activities for Early Learning and development programs to include: Kindergarten Entry Assessment (KEA) for the Maryland Model and School Readiness (MMSR) Framework, Race to the Top - Early Learning Challenge (RTTT) - ELC and Comprehensive Assessment System (CAS) and the MD Common Core Curriculum (CCSC).
Provides technical assistance to DECD staff, MSDE divisions, statewide Early Childhood educators and providers to produce products, instructional materials and deliverables for the early learning years in support of the requirements of the RTTT-ELC; serves as the professional development specialist responsible for developing processes and products for pre-school, Pre-K - grade 2, licensed child care and Head Start Providers and monitors programmatic and fiscal accountability in assigned projects.
EDUCATION: A Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in Education, Educational Administration/Supervision or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of professional administrative, accountability or teaching experience in or affiliated with an education program including experience in coordinating or administering an education program or service directly related to early learning and development.
NOTES: 1. Two years of additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the Master’s Degree. 2. Possession of a Doctorate in a field related to the position may be substituted for one year of the experience requirements.
Knowledge of early learning and development programs; skill in developing and presenting staff development; experience in supporting teachers and administrators; ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships; ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
