Main Purpose of Job
These contractual positions offer no state benefits and are professional formative assessment positions that will create a comprehensive team responsible for providing leadership, technical assistance and project management for the development, administration, and implementation of the new formative assessment system within Mathematics, Reading/English Language Arts, Special Education, and Education Technology.
Provides technical assistance and leadership for the development and implementation of Maryland’s Formative Assessment Project; identifies tasks and tools, resources and requirements necessary for effective implementation; coordinates project activities within the vendor timeline for the development, administration and implementation of the new formative assessment system; develops and edits formative assessment administration materials in collaboration with vendors and in accordance with the program schedule; communicates project activities and training on formative assessment implementation to internal staff and local school system personnel; assumes responsibility for coordinating knowledge of, as well as participation in, the formative assessment project design, development and review activities; coordinates the day-to-day operations, correspondence, and scheduling of meetings.
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Possession of a Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post-baccalaureate course work from an accredited college or university. EXPERIENCE: Four years of administrative or teaching experience in or affiliated with an education program; this experience should include coordinating, administering, and implementing instruction and assessment support to teachers and school leaders directly related to the position content area. NOTES: 1. Two additional years of experience directly related to the position may be substituted for the required Master’s Degree.Possession of a Doctorate in a field related to the position may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Knowledge of instruction and assessment practices; content knowledge related to the specific position area; skill identifying tasks, tools, resources and requirements necessary for increasing instructional effectiveness and improving student learning; skill developing and editing instruction and assessment resources and administration materials; awareness of formative assessment; ability to coordinate the day-to-day operations, correspondence, and scheduled meetings; ability to communicate project activities to internal staff and local school system personnel.
