This position is responsible for providing an advanced level of computer systems analysis and design, planning and managing development schedules, rollout, user acceptance testing and providing ongoing support for the Maryland Longitudinal Data System Center database and applications.

This position utilizes an in-depth technical understanding of the MLDS databases in order to help utilize those databases to achieve the established goals of the MLDS Center.
Consults with managers to analyze and define user requirements for MLDS; develops system specifications in collaboration with developers; assures systems specification and design satisfies user needs; coordinates system testing and validates performance; creates and manages hierarchical and multi-dimensional data; provides technical guidance and training to other programmers; produces data validation reports.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other technology related field with specific coursework in the structure and use of automated information systems.
EXPERIENCE: One year of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications.
Knowledge of information systems architecture; Knowledge of data systems or related student data systems; knowledge of OBIEE tools; knowledge of protocols and use of meta data; knowledge of the principals and practices of systems analysis and design; skill analyzing and resolving system and application problems; skill in end user training on the functionality of applications; Skill in applying inductive and deductive reasoning to reach logical solutions to complex application system problems;; ability to communicate effectively when establishing user requirements and deliverables; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with system users, vendors, computer operations personnel, programmers and technical support staff.
