This is a contractual position responsible for providing technical assistance, support and coordination of services to early care and education programs throughout Montgomery & Frederick County to include conducting on-site monitoring and providing information on Maryland EXCELS program standards, coordinates with licensing offices and regional resource and referral offices to provide technical assistance to gain regulatory compliance and quality improvement.
Conducts on-site consultation visits with participating programs to provide technical assistance, information and verify the accuracy of Maryland EXCELS rating; determines qualifications of child care center staff per regulatory requirements of COMAR; assesses Maryland EXCELS standards and provides technical assistance; and makes recommendations for additional technical assistance or training through the Child Care Resource Center Network.
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Educational/Administration or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of professional administrative or teaching experience in or affiliated with an education program. Experience inspecting, licensing and monitoring child care facilities.
Knowledge of trends, regulations, policies, and issues affecting education program improvement and school readiness gaps; knowledge of procedures and practices which ensure safe and sanitary conditions at child care facilities; skill in implementing and monitoring program evaluations; ability to develop and initiate policies and procedures and to present recommendations clearly and concisely; ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations and standards governing education agencies; ability to organize and manage multiple tasks; ability to work as a team member and establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
