Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services (DPSCS). The resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies within DPSCS. This list will be valid for one year.

Main Purpose of Job

This position oversees and coordinates agency operations pertaining to investigations and investigative needs, by planning, organizing, implementing, administering, and supervising the interpretation and application of policies, directives, and procedures to ensure compliance with current protocol and implementation of new directives and policies as required.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Assist in the direction of daily operations of the Intel Unit and Internal Investigative Unit by working with the Intel Coordinator, Director of the Internal Investigative Unit, and leadership overseeing the Intel Unit, as well as other support staff to communicate and orchestrate tasks and objectives to meet common goals.
  • Collects and analyzes Intel data requiring the application of advanced statistical techniques, and the independent interpretation of collected data.
  • Responsible for determining, developing and evaluating the method and sources of collection and organizing, preparing and submitting reports, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Suggests and recommend methods, techniques, sources and procedures and will assist in the formulation of conclusions and recommendations.
  • Evaluates efficiency of operations and recommends new policies, standards, and workflow procedures, using new technology where appropriate.
  • Reviews, evaluates and assists in the development of said policies and programs to include but not limited to improved technology; improved databases for better tracking; troubleshooting operations to improve workflow and productivity; reviewing current policies, procedures, etc. in comparison to similar units in order to ensure that the Intel Unit is functioning in a manner similar to counterparts

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university including or supplemented by three or more semester hours in statistics beyond the elementary course. In order to meet this educational requirement an unofficial copy of your transcript must accompany your application.

Experience: One year of experience in statistical or research work which must have included the application of statistical techniques.

Note: One year’s experience in statistical research work, including the application of elementary statistical techniques, may be substituted for the required course in advanced statistics.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Six months of experience obtaining and analyzing investigative data.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
