Main Purpose of Job

This position will be responsible for investigations of the less technical and complex allegations of misconduct, fraud or incompetence. Duties involve case management, studies, and analysis prior to submission to the Board Discipline Committee; obtain statements/evidence & prepare written reports of investigations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of 60 credits from an accredited college or university to include 15 credits in criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology or a health field.  Transcripts must accompany application.

Experience: One year of experience conducting criminal investigations including the preparation of analyses and reports for use in legal proceedings or professional level experience in a health or legal field.

Note: Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for year basis for the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in these classes may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in these classes may be required to have daily use of a motor vehicle while on official State business. Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
