Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to research, develop, review, revise, maintain, communicate, and implement Medical Assistance eligibility policies, procedures, forms, and letters. This position focuses on eligibility for home and community-based services waivers, Medicaid long-term care, and other special populations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of administrative or professional experience developing or applying policies and regulations in medical assistance, health insurance, federal or State entitlement programs.

Note: Additional administrative or professional experience applying policies and regulations in medical assistance, health insurance, federal or State entitlement programs or in a health or human service program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should have expert knowledge of Medical Assistance eligibility processing and policy, especially long term care eligibility, and experience using Client Automated Resource Eligibility and Medicaid Management Information Systems (CARES/MMIS)

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
