Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to operate the Maintenance Department computerized work control center where maintenance problems are called in daily from hospital staff.  Duties include:  providing the operations of the Maintenance Department Work Control system; documenting and processing requests for corrective and new installation work orders; preparing work orders for equipment preventive maintenance and departmental tasks; diagnosing, repairing or correcting hardware and software malfunctions; and, entering and tracking data from completed work orders and providing reports.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience:  Six months of experience typing correspondence, reports, charts or other documents from rough draft, corrected copy or oral instruction. on a keyboard of a personal computer, computer terminal or word processor.

Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute additional experience typing or performing other clerical duties on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute a minimum of five courses or six months of clerical training in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the clerical support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to type accurately at a minimum speed of forty words per minute.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
