Main Purpose of Job

Position 1:

This position supports the management of the assisted living licensure program through the performance of the following tasks: entering updated provider and administrative information into both the Visual d-Base and Aspen databases, researching records of past and present providers to determine status, placing fee payment data into correct database section, filing correspondence, mailing and distributing licenses and letters, responding to requests for information from the public, answering phone inquiries from the public about provider status and document submittal, and acting as support staff to the Database Manager responsible for licensure and renewal decisions, etc.

Position 2: 

This position provides leadership to clerical staff to the Newborn Screening unit that process clinical specimens submitted to the State Public Health Laboratory as part of the Laboratories Administration's quality public health laboratory services to promote, protect, and preserve the health and well-being of the people in Maryland from communicable and hereditary disease, and from environmental hazards. Responsible for leading, reviewing work and training Data Entry employees in the Newborn Screening Division. The successful applicant should be able to type 50-60 words per minute.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes: 

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, data base, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
