Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Program in Annapolis, Maryland is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Contractual Natural Resources Biologist I. The incumbent will develop GIS data for various wildlife species and monitoring projects. Primarily, this position will work with the USGS Breeding Bird Survey data to generate a complete and accurate stop location dataset for Maryland. Additional related data compilation and management projects may be included, as time allows, such as conversion of Breeding Bird Survey, Breeding Bird Atlas, and Miniroute data.

Full-time work is preferred, but part time work can be considered. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A degree in biology, biochemistry, environmental science aquaculture, natural science, natural resources management, botany, marine biology, marine ecology or physical oceanography, ichthyology, fisheries management, wildlife management, zoology, or a natural resources management related field of study from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None.

Notes: 

Full-time work is preferred, but part time work can be considered.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with bird survey protocols, conducting bird surveys, or other pertinent field surveys.

Experience with GPS and GIS technology.
