Main Purpose of Job

This is a split position that will function as both a Human Resources Associate and a Volunteer Activities Coordinator.  While functioning as Human Resources Associate, the position is responsible for ensuring Human Resources actions and transactions are completed in a timely, efficacious and procedurally and technically correct manner to include payroll, benefits administration and HR practices.  While functioning as a Volunteer Activities Coordinator, the position will plan, organize, and implement an extensive volunteer program to assist in the provision of quality services to individuals supported at Potomac Center.  This position is responsible for promoting public relations awareness for individual citizens and organizations representative of the community in order to meet the mission of the Center and its many programs.  Furthermore, this position supervises all volunteers and serves as liaison to the Volunteer Association.  This position is the primary contact responsible for fundraising with the purpose of obtaining funds for various items and services that will benefit the individuals supported.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Microsoft Office Product knowledge is preferred as this program is used extensively for the payroll and personnel function.  Also the ability to speak in front of large groups of people for the Volunteer Activities part of the job.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
