Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Department of Natural Resources, Boating Services - Crisfield, Maryland location.  This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only.  The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.  Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Boating Services is currently accepting applications for Maintenance Supervisor for Somers Cove Marina, Crisfield, Maryland. This position supervises Maintenance Chiefs, lower-level building maintenance supervisors and skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance employees. Organizes, schedules, and coordinates the technical building maintenance work and installation services rendered by employees assigned to the trades and general services sections, Prepares contractual specifications for construction or overhaul work to be done by private vendor firms, Assists in the preparation and administration of the building maintenance budget, Develops and revises internal operating procedures, Inspects completed job assignments for adherence to trades standards or contract specifications, Compares cost of completed jobs with original cost estimates, Supervises and provides on-the-job training to employees, Adjusts, maintains, and makes minor repairs to refrigeration and cooling equipment, and to other control devices, Prepares specifications for the requisition of equipment, tools, parts, and supplies, Inspects equipment, tools, parts and supplies for adherence to specifications, Inspects shop and work areas for adherence to safety, sanitary, and security regulations; Secures tools and equipment, May take inventories; Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Six years experience in building maintenance or building construction trades including five years of responsibility assigning, reviewing and approving the work of others and disciplining, evaluating the performance of, and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of others.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
