Main Purpose of Job

Administrative Officer III performs diversified support services for the Agency's operational units, including payroll, accounting and administrative responsibilities.

Provides support to Director of Finance and Administration as well as other Agency managers and administrators by accomplishment of both routine and unique fiscal and support services, tasks, assignments and requirements.

Responsible for managing Agency payroll, including approval, reconciliation, and delivery to Agency staff.

Responsible for management of Accounts Payable, including invoice coding, voucher entry and fund balance analysis.
 
Responsible for interpreting and ensuring compliance with state law and regulations as they apply to fiscal and procurement matters. Works independently with minimal supervision. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants with a degree in accounting are preferred.
One year of experience in FMIS (including TESS, ADPICS and R*STARS) is preferred.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to work in Anne Arundel county.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.

Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
