Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this job is to be accountable and responsible for the final disposition of all unclaimed property. The position is also fully responsible for the master property record control, quarterly inventory verification, disposition of all monies submitted to the Department's Property Unit, processing all claims for monies and routing of monies from auctions and disbursement of forfeited monies.
POSITION DUTIES
This is technical and administrative work coordinating the disposal of seized/unclaimed property from the State Police. An employee in this class is responsible for reviewing and determining the method of disposition and supervising the disposal of seized property. The position is also fully responsible for the Master Property Record Database, quarterly Barrack Property Room Inventory verification's, disposition of all monies submitted to the Department Property Unit, and verification of monies received from auctions. It entails considerable contact with administrative personnel in both government and private organizations for the purpose of coordinating plans that will yield the highest financial return for the sale of surplus property.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a State high school equivalence certificate.
Experience: Four years of experience in the disposal of surplus equipment, materials and supplies.
Notes:
Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of experience, for up to 2 years of the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience using the new www.GovDeals.com website to dispose of property.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification will be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle to Maryland State Police facilities throughout the State of Maryland. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which require the individual to be examined by a physician after an offer of employment, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.

SELECTION PROCESS

Successful candidates will be placed on the employment Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED OR QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. Applicants may be given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
This position is in a bargaining unit which is required to pay a service fee to the exclusive representative of the unit.
