Main Purpose of Job
The Administrator I-Baltimore City Regional Training Coordinator has responsibility to provide guidance and coaching for new DJS staff, to keep seasoned employees current and provide refresher and remedial training for the Department of Juvenile Services mandated staff. The Regional Training Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring 100% compliance with in-service training requirements for current mandated staff and ensuring that the daily training operation is delivered in a professional and timely manner.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
One year of the above required experience must include training adults in a training environment.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of a current Instructor Certification from MPCTC.

At least one year of experience training adults in the Public Safety/Criminal Justice work environment is highly desirable.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Must be a current Maryland Department of Juvenile Services employee.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants who meet the Minimum and Selective Qualifications will be placed on the eligible list categorized as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified. Candidates shall be certified to the eligible list for a year.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
