Main Purpose of Job

This position is the supervisory level of work planning, organizing, implementing maintaining and evaluating the health records system which ultimately assures the agency receives reimbursement for care provided and remains licensed while meeting the standards of all regulatory and accrediting bodies.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Associate of Arts degree in Medical Records Sciences.

Experience: Four years of experience compiling and maintaining health records.

Notes:

 1. Current registration as a Registered Health Information Technician by the American Health Information Management Association may be substituted for the required education.

2. Two years of experience supervising employees engaged in health records processing and maintenance in a health records program for a health care facility or program may be substituted for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Medical Record classifications or Patient Administration Specialists and Health Services Management specialty codes in the health records management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
