Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville, MD

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to maintain protection of the property of Springfield Hospital Center and assist the Hospital Police Department as needed.  Job duties include:  Operating the metal detector in the patient care areas; searching visitors and patients and their belongings before entry; and, patrolling the property.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Ability to read and write.

Experience: Two years of experience in building security work.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, will be required to acquire telephone service at their place of residence.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 06.01.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
