Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide supervision and instruction to Nursing Instructors/Nurse Educators involved with teaching in-services training, hospital-wide. This position is also responsible for the design of educational programs: to evaluate the educational programs and revise as necessary, to assess, plan, develop and implement hospital-wide training in the areas of In-Service, Orientation, CPR, PMAB, a Certified Nursing Assistant Program approved by the MD Board of Nursing and to provide the continuing education programs required to meet Joint Commission accreditation by applying Federal and State training regulations for nursing, other clinical staff, and support staff.  This position receives general supervision from a higher level educator, nursing supervisor/manager, or designee and is Emergency Essential.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Master’s degree in Nursing or a health related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years as an instructor.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing  specialty codes in the Nursing Instruction field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.  A copy of your current license must accompany application.

2.Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be re required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

3.Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain a current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
