Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this part-time (50%) position is to provide limited occupational therapy treatments to patients/clients under the direction of an occupational therapist at the Springfield Hospital Center.  Under the direct supervision of an occupational therapist the position will implement and provide direct services in the form of group or individual therapy to persons with severe and persistent mental illness. This position will function as a member of the treatment team and make recommendations to the supervising occupational therapist regarding re-evaluations of patients' level of functioning.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  Determined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Experience:  Two years of experience as a Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.  Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.  Please attach a copy of current license to application.

2.  Employees in these classifications may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.

3.  Employees in these classifications may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
