Main Purpose of Job

This position will apply, interpret, and process Maryland Children's Health Insurance Program (MCHP) specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a variety of program related activities. This employee will assign, review and approve the work of clerical staff. Additionally, this employee will handle appeal cases and be responsible for conducting pre-hearing conference, providing testimony at administrative hearings and ensuring compliance to decisions rendered in hearings.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes:

1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
