Main Purpose of Job
This position functions as the Deputy Assistant Director of Finance for the Baltimore City Department of Social Services (BCDSS) and oversees the coordination and management of Accounting Operations for BCDSS' Finance Division in accordance with applicable State, Federal and Agency laws, rules, policies and procedures. Responsibilities include ensuring that all funds received and expended by BCDSS are properly documented and booked utilizing various departmental worksheets and system reports as well as ensuring the implementation of financial deadlines and the adherence to all imposed daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles. Three years of this experience must have involved the supervision of lower level Accountants, Fiscal and Support Staff.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will possess a Master's degree Accounting and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
