Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to organize and oversee the production of MCE products in the area of responsibility.

POSITION DUTIES

This position is for an Assistant Textile Coordinator to oversee the shipping and receiving of MCE products statewide and tracking inventory. This employee will train and supervise civilian staff as well as inmate workers and will perform his/her duties according to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and MCE Agency Directives. These directives include but are not limited to the custody and security of the inmate work force. This position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to perform in a high paced team oriented work environment. This position also fills in for the Textiles Coordinator as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation form a standard High School or possession of a State High School Equivalence Certificate.

Experience: Knowledge of standard shipping, receiving, and inventory procedures. Experience/knowledge of the textiles trade preferred.

Notes:

(1) Specific educational requirements and other selection standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 or Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01.

(2) Employees who have not already done so must meet the selection standards required and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a correctional officer during their probationary period, (Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209).

(3) Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
