Main Purpose of Job

This position functions as the agency's Information Technology (IT) Security Officer. Responsible for overall development, implementation and maintenance of Agency IT Security Program (includes all media such as hard copy, electronic data transmission, electronic databases, information systems, and communication systems). Oversee the development, implementation and/or enhancement of policies, procedures and practices that ensure compliance with various agency (MIEMSS and State of Maryland, in particular) guidelines, and applicable federal and state law. Provide input in technical responses to audit findings. Collaborate with senior level administrators and directors within the agency in order to ensure compliance with MIEMSS and State of Maryland security directives/initiatives. Apply technical experience with security hardware and software systems to lead/ assist or perform system configuration/administration duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor's degree in IT Security or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Two years of experience in IT or IT security.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certified.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess  experience with CISCO firewalls, routes, switches and serves. He/she will be CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and GIA (Global Information Assurance Certification) certified. He/she will be experienced in Windows Server OS and VMware.
