Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Service in Annapolis, Maryland is currently accepting applications for a Program Manager III. The selected candidate will function as the Inland Fisheries Division Manager and is responsible for 25 staff at 8 regional offices statewide. The incumbent develops & monitors the division budget including serving as the principle investigator for a USF&WS Sportfish Restoration Grant. The selected candidate oversees status and trend monitoring, analysis, & reporting for Maryland's freshwater fisheries and related aquatic resources, and directs the management of a statewide database for Inland programs. The incumbent is responsible for protecting and enhancing fisheries and related resources through environmental review and interaction with state & federal agencies, local government, and organized constituent groups. The selected candidate also develops management strategies to achieve conservation objectives and stakeholder preferences and promotes the states fisheries to foster public stewardship of Maryland's aquatic resources.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the natural resources or related biology field.

Experience: Six (6) years of experience in natural resources or fisheries management, including at least one year of experience as a supervisor.

Notes:

 1. Additional experience in natural resources or fisheries management work
may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

One year of the above experience must be in the supervision of employees.
