This position serves the production goals of a busy Creative Services shop by creating broadcast promotional materials in support of MPT’s marketing plan for our products, programs and services. The Associate Producer/Editor will concept, write and edit local program promotion and program day part messaging,  as well as assist Creative Services Producers in creating station image and marketing reels.  In addition to AVID editing, this position will also produce and direct remote and studio production.

• Concept, write, produce and edit broadcast promotion for MPT programs and day parts.  Specific duties include: concepting, script writing, footage resourcing, directing location and studio shoots, simple graphic design, online editing in AVID Symphony and weekly promo post production sessions.  Successful interfacing with program producers required.
• Pre- production duties include:  participating in creative brief meetings, concepting and writing scripts, creation of simple type, animation and design elements, shooting original footage, or sourcing footage from the archives, casting talent, directing audio recording sessions and downloading video and audio files.
• Pre-production duties for promo post sessions and editing MPT2 promos in weekly post sessions.  Duties include:  creation of slates and lower-third graphics, ingesting all necessary promo materials into AVID each week and editing the weekly promo output for channel MPT2.
• Creating nightly Deko markers for on-air use every night of the week.
• Other duties include: correct reading of Protrack on-air schedule, correct translation of program information into DekoCast in Master Control, rendering complete and correct schedule to Traffic for insertion on broadcast logs.
• Assist Creative Services Managing Director manage tape library, deliver feed tapes to Master Control, label tapes and coordinate satellite feeds.

• Bachelor’s degree in film, media, mass communications, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years experience which involved various aspects of television production such as research, segment creation, booking facilities and editing
• Strong writing skills
• Experience with non-linear edit systems, AVID preferred
• Knowledge of public television programs desired
• Demo reel and/or writing samples are required, provided either by DVD or URL

INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY

2 years experience in station or network on-air promotion is desired.  Strong writing skills along with non-linear editing, AVID Symphony are also preferred.  Must be organized, detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects.  Demo reel is requested via web link of DVD and this may be included in your summary of experience within the application or through email to resumes@mpt.org.  Writing samples are also welcome and may be sent to resumes@mpt.org.  Knowledge of PBS programs is desirable.
