LOCATION OF POSITION

Positions are located throughout the South region at the above listed work locations.

Main Purpose of Job

Interview probationers and parolees in order to prepare accurate and complete initial intake records and initiate offender case files.

POSITION DUTIES

Interviews offenders in order to gather necessary information, reviews rules and conditions, answers questions, and provides reporting instructions to appropriate agent/office assignment.

Generates an official case file in order to assist agent in initiating community supervision by accurately completing all requisite forms and documents.   

Inputs accurate and complete data in OBSCIS II / DDAIS informational systems in order to open offender cases in a timely fashion.

Assigns offender supervision cases to appropriate regions, offices, programs, specialized units accurately and in a timely manner.

Maintains access and working knowledge of varied informational systems (i.e., OBSCIS II, OBSCIS I, DDAIS, circuit and district courts.)

Registers sex offenders pursuant to Article 27, Section 792 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

Establishes payment plans in cases involving fines, costs, restitution, supervision, testing and 2% fees and performs all requisite record checks and Alpha Index searches.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes:

1.  Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3.  Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the requires experience.

4.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
