Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Medical Care Program Associate I is the intermediate level of work in a Medical Assistance Program in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Employees in this classification apply, interpret and process program specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a variety of activities. The main purpose of this position is to function as a Medical Care Program Associate Worker for the Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP) and Medical Assistance (MA) for Families. The incumbent will process applications received for the Maryland Children's Health Program, MA for Families, and the Maryland Health Connection. Applications will include pregnant women, children under 19, newborns, parents/caregivers of MCHP children, childless adults, annual redeterminations, and perform ongoing case maintenance as required. Applications and case maintenance will be performed utilizing the DHR CARES computer program and Maryland Health Benefit Connection HXB System. Applications and documents will be scanned into the ECMS and other duties will be assigned as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  One year of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

NOTES:

1.  Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.
