Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Building Security Officer II is the full performance level of work responsible for protecting the safety and security of persons, equipment, and facilities on State grounds.  This position will monitor parking lot areas, secure all exterior doors at appropriate times, monitor security cameras and access control system.  The incumbent will conduct periodic checks of hospital grounds, buildings, parking areas, state vehicles, etc.  The employee will be responsible for immediately responding to any kind of offense or criminal activity and documenting all activity in the security log.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:    Ability to read and write.

Experience:  Two years of experience in building security work.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1.  Employees in this classification are subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, will be required to acquire telephone service at their place of residence.

2.  Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 06.01.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
