Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Social Worker II, Health Services is the full performance level of professional clinical social work providing direct social work services to clients in a special population in a health care setting.  The purpose of this position is to provide clinical social work services to mental health clients on an outpatient basis or school-based setting focusing on high risk clients that present a great deal of complexity.  The incumbent must be able to provide these services to children, adolescents and adults, be licensed to provide a psychiatric diagnosis and capable of working with only a minimum of supervision.  There are two contractual vacancies, one part-time and one full-time which may require working some evenings/weekends as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:    Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.

Experience:  Two years experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an,approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.  Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Testing Unit.

2.  Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
