Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Computer User Support Specialist II is the full performance level of work responding to and coordinating the resolution of Help Desk calls from users of computer systems.  The purpose of this position is to serve as the primary contact person to respond to and resolve Help Desk questions and issues.  This position will assist the regional office staff with computer hardware and software needs, as well as PCIS2 needs.  The incumbent should have experience in handling the performance, integrity, development, planning and troubleshooting of the regional office databases.  The employee should have experience installing, assembling and configuring computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware, pull cables and rewires or direct the rewiring of cables as required.  In addition, the employee must have clerical support and data entry experience, ability to maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  One year of experience responding to Help Desk calls from users of computer systems.

NOTE:

Experience operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing or maintaining information may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have advance working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, experience working as the primary contact person to respond and resolve Help Desk questions and concerns, and experience handling troubleshooting problems with computer systems to include hardware, software, email, network and peripheral equipment problems.  Some experience providing individual training as well as instructing staff about new and potential use of software would be helpful.
