LOCATION OF POSITION
The current vacancy exists with the InformationTechnology & Communications Division (ITCD) in Baltimore City, MD for 2 days a week and 3 days a week with MD State Archives Hall of Records in Annapolis, MD.
Main Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is to collect, analyze, evaluate and disseminate criminal disposition information relating to offenders with criminal records in the Maryland computerized criminal history (CCH) database. This position will coordinate the sharing of criminal disposition information with all law enforcement agencies within the State, other states, and with the FBI. The individual will provide administrative and data entry support to the Data Verification Unit. This position is responsible for performing archival data research at the Maryland State Archives, retrieving missing court disposition information, matching the retrieved court disposition information with the associated arrest information in the States criminal history database and updating the State criminal history records with the newly found disposition information. This position uses independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with 10-201 to 206 and 10-213 to 221, Criminal Procedure Article, Annotated Code of Maryland, to insure complete and accurate criminal history in Maryland computerized criminal history (CCH). This position uses the experience of archival research and recovery according to established archival management standards. This position will work at the Criminal Justice Information System Central Repository 2 days each week and will work at the Maryland State Archives Hall of Records 3 days each week.
POSITION DUTIES
Using the existing State criminal history arrest database, identify individual arrest events that do not have corresponding court disposition information in the State’s court disposition database. Using appropriate research and analysis techniques, search Maryland State Archives historical court records at the State’s Hall of Records or any associated off-site storage facility and at the various Maryland District Court and Circuit Court storage sites to find missing court disposition record information. Make copies of recovered court records. 2 days each regular work week will be at CJIS office location.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate should have experience with MS Office.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
