Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Coordinator Special Programs, Health Services II Health Services is the full performance level of work coordinating programs in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in a local health department.  Employees are responsible for assigned program activities.  This position will be responsible for the implementation and supervision of the Talbot County Early Head Start program components, which include oversight of home visiting, service coordination and child development for enrolled families in accordance with federal performance standards.  The incumbent will also assist with coordination of center activities.  A Masters degree in Human Services, Human Development or Social Work with experience providing direct service to families and bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.  This is a full-time contractual position which may require working occasional evening/weekend hours as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:    Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Experience:  Two years of professional experience in health services, one year of which must have been in the option for which application is made.

NOTES:

1.  Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.

2.  Experience in the option must be as follows: professional clinical or administrative work in health or medical services in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Addictions.

3.  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Masters degree in Human Services, Human Development or Social Work with experience providing direct service to families and bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
