Introduction

The Maryland Technology Assistance Program (MDTAP) is a program run by the Maryland Department of Disabilities. Our mission is to enhance the lives of all Marylanders with disabilities, older Marylanders, and their families by helping support access to assistive technology (AT) devices and services. One of the ways this is accomplished is thru the Assistive Technology Loan Program that assists Maryland residents with disabilities and their families to qualify and obtain low-interest loans to buy equipment that helps them live, work, and learn more independently. Also, through the WorkABILITY Loan Program Maryland residents with disabilities can qualify for low interest loans to purchase equipment to address employment barriers, or support work from home or start a small business.

Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the Assistant Director, Assistive Technology Loan Program and oversees two lending programs for assistive technology and to aid people with disabilities in pursuit of self-employment.

This is a part-time position working 30-35 hours per week.

POSITION DUTIES

Essential Duties of the Position (not all-inclusive)

Assist with Program Administration: 

  • Provides customer service to callers who inquire about the loan program, including information and referral, identifying appropriate lenders, sending application packages and application assistance.
  • Processes loan applications.
  • Notifies borrowers of loan decisions by mailing appropriate   correspondence.
  • Verifies closing documents.
  •  Collaborates with participating lenders to close loans.

Reporting and Data Management

  • Collects, enters and reports data on loan applicants using loan program database, lenders database and data systems established through federal funding sources.
  • Orders credit bureau reports and prepare material for ATLP Board of Directors review.
  • Records and shares board meeting minutes with ATLP Board of Directors.
  • Assists ATLP Director in the carrying out of board directives and updating written ATLP policy and procedures.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

NOTES:

1.     Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-  year basis for the required education.

2.     Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each of required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 Preference will be given to applicants that possess the following.  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

1.     Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.

2.     Six (6) months of the required experience must be in evaluating  loan applications and documentation by   investigating and confirming credit worthiness; helping customers by answering questions and responding to  request.

3.   Fluency in Microsoft Word and Excel; work independently and maintain customer confidence by keeping loan information confidential.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
