Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Maryland Park Service, is currently accepting applications for a long-term contractual (12 month) Administrative Specialist III position at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing financial and clerical tasks associated with the operation and maintenance of the Seneca Creek State Park office. This position will be responsible for monitoring expenditures; preparing invoices and deposits; monitoring corporate card purchases and encumbrances and reconciling financial records. This position completes and submits seasonal contracts for contractual employees, tracks employee leave, and processes seasonal timesheets. Clerical tasks include providing front-line visitor services via telephone, correspondence and in-person; maintaining state park files and databases, and maintaining park records. This position assists with concession sales, and operates a cash register, and reconciles park revenues.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above at the rate of one year experience for 30 credit hours of education for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
