Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Medical Care Program Associate I is the intermediate level of work in a Medical Assistance Program in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.  Employees in this classification apply, interpret and process program specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a variety of activities.  The main purpose of this position is to demonstrate the ability to work at a full performance level of adjusting previously paid claims for corrected payments.  This work involves the screening, reviewing, examining, batching, processing and adjusting of all claim types received by the Program.  This position works independently receiving supervision from a Medical Care Program Supervisor and may also supervise lower level clerical staff.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  One year of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

NOTES:

1.  Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.
