Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this temporary position is to assist in maintaining the fiscal integrity of the Office of Health Care Quality.  This position will coordinate current fiscal activities and staff and develop effective internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of fiscal records.  This position will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating financial, statistical and narrative reports of fiscal services, activities and projects to determine if they provide a basis for making sound fiscal judgments and if program objectives are being met.  This position will meet with upper-level management, officials, auditors and vendors to discuss and resolve fiscal issues.  This position requires a strong knowledge of fiscal audits.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a bachelor’s degree and 30 credits in accounting and related courses including 3 credits in auditing; and, six years of accounting /financial management experience, including three years at a supervisory level. A CPA certificate or a master’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration will substitute for one year of general experience. Applicants who met the CPA exam admission requirements prior to July 1, 1974 will meet the above educational requirements.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must have at least one year of experience working with Federal grants and have supervisory experience (no less than 3 employees).

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates should have knowledge of the State FMIS system, have worked with Federal Medicare and Medicaid grants, and conducted financial audits.
