Main Purpose of Job
The Contractual Nutrition Program Trainee is the non-licensed entry level of work providing nutrition services to clients in a public health or community setting. This position will conduct professional nutrition care services to eligible WIC participants to determine program eligibility. Duties include, but are not limited to providing health and nutrition screening and education, providing program referrals and distributing program benefits, and assisting with the coordination of outreach events in Harford and Cecil Counties. This is a full-time contractual position working Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with 1 or 2 evening clinics per month 11:00 am - 7:30 pm. The selected candidate must be willing to attend outreach events outside of normal work hours.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Community Nutrition, Dietetics, Foods and Human Nutrition, Food Systems Management or Nutrition Education.
Experience: None.
NOTE:
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Dietitian and Nutritionist classification or Dietitian and Nutritionist specialty codes in the Dietitian field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
