Main Purpose of Job

To provide supervision and guidance to youth residing in a facility operated by the Department of Juvenile Services (Youth Centers).

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from a standard high school, or possession of a high school equivalence

certificate.

EXPERIENCE: None required

Must be 21 years of age to apply.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Applicants must be willing to work in Allegany or Garrett County for this recruitment.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.  Employees in this classification must compete and successfully pass the Entrance Level Correctional Training Course for DJS support staff required for the Maryland Correctional Training Commission certificate during the probationary period.

2.  Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the state of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

This position is subject to the Correctional Services Article, Title 8, which requires

compliance with the Maryland Correctional Training Commission’s selection/training

standards; therefore the candidate will be required to receive a drug test, background check

and physical/mental health exam.
