Main Purpose of Job

The Contractual Medical Care Program Associate Supervisor is the supervisory level of work in a Medical Assistance Program in the Department of Heath and Mental Hygiene.  The main purpose of this position is to coordinate operational functions necessary to establish eligibility for Medical Assistance recipients.  Another function requires the supervision of Medical Care Program Associates including assigning and reviewing work for accuracy and productivity.  This position is also required to develop and recommend solutions to problems and provide training to staff as indicated.  The incumbent supports all the activities of special projects requiring knowledge of Federal and State regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to the Medical Assistance Program and knowledge of the Client Automated Resource Eligibility (CARES), Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) and other systems.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:  Four years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program to include two years applying, interpreting and processing program specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a medical care program.

NOTES:

1.  Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2.  College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have knowledge of Federal and State regulations, policies and procedures as they pertain to the Medical Assistance Program.  The applicant should also have knowledge of the Client Automated Resource Eligibility (CARES), Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) and other systems.
