Main Purpose of Job

A Lottery Representative I is the entry level of work in Lottery Sales operations, involving responsibility for retailer accessibility and marketing surveys throughout the state of Maryland. To visit 90-125 Lottery agent locations in a specific territory on a pre-determined cycle and perform duties that corresponds with being front line communicators with our agent network. These duties include increasing revenue generating activities, promotions and lottery ticket sales, compliance maintenance of lottery laws, regulations and policies with integrity and efficiency.

POSITION DUTIES

Travels throughout the designated territory to ensure agents are complying with licensing policies and procedures and promoting Lottery sales activities; recruits new lottery retail locations and assists with licensing of new agents and evaluates agents licensing compliance; delivers point-of-sales material to agents; advises agents on the effective placement and display of point-of-sale materials.  May give public talks, presentations, and will be required to measure and record clearances and heights of agent facilities to ensure compliance with licensing policies and procedures.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience selling or marketing a consumer product from a wholesaler or manufacturer to retail outlets for resale to consumers.

Notes:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing may be substituted for the required experience.

2. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications: One to Two years of experience in wholesale or route sales. One to Two years of sales experience calling on retailers.     

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification are assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
