Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Maintenance Technician at Fair Hill Natural Resources Management Area located in Elkton, Maryland.  The selected candidate will be responsible for cleaning restrooms and buildings; picking up and removing litter; mowing grass and trimming; maintaining facilities, grounds, and roadways as needed; and other duties as assigned.  The incumbent will also be involved in completing various projects including building repairs and renovations, event preparation and cleanup, trails maintenance, painting, electric and plumbing, or other assigned projects.  The selected candidate should enjoy working outdoors in all conditions and have a strong work ethic. The incumbent must be available to work some weekends and holidays. Weekly hours and contract period are flexible and subject to change.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:  None.

Experience: Some experience with lawn equipment, hand tools, and power tools.    

Notes:

Applicants must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.    

Applicants must adhere to all State and Federal laws, safety regulations, and must understand and adhere to all park policies.  

Applicant must present a neat and clean appearance and wear issued uniform correctly.   

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Some carpentry, plumbing, basic electrical, chainsaw, minor equipment maintenance and repair, or heavy equipment experience is preferred, but not required.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
