Introduction

The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) / Division of Unemployment Insurance (DUI) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the CONTRACTUAL position of Intermittent UI Associate.  

This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible will be used to staff this position or function only. This list will be maintained for six months.. You will need to reapply for any future recruitment for this job classification.

 Baltimore City and Baltimore County

Main Purpose of Job

This position has various work hours from a part-time to full-time status based on the workload.   The work may also be for varying lengths of duration dependent upon the workload.  It may range from a few days, a week,  a few weeks to several months. Intermittent employment is limited to forty (40)  hours per week and must not exceed more than eighty (80) hours of employment during a biweekly period. Some positions in this classification require the ability to operate a personal computer.  Demonstrtion of proficiency may be required prior to appointment.

POSITION DUTIES

The main duties of this position will involve obtaining detailed, technical information from claimants in order to establish and process unemployment insurance claims, and to detect potentially disqualifying unemployment insurance issues.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

One year of full-time employment, or its equivalent, in unemployment insurance claims taking and/or processing work within DLLR

OR

Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a State high school equivalency certification  and four (4) years of full-time employment or its equivalent in general clerical work  

OR

Possession of an Associate Arts degree from an accredited college or university, or successful completion of sixty (60) semester credit hours

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (DLLR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to DLLR/DUI as a result of an unemployment insurance overpayment and/or fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants must provide sufficient information on the application  to show they meet the qualifications for this recruitment.  RESUMES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE AND NOT CONSIDERED IN THE SELECTION PROCESS.

All information concerning the qualifications, including any required documentation (diploma, transcript, certificate, etc.) must be submitted and received by the closing date. Information submitted after this date will not be considered.

Applications that meet qualifications will be referred to the hiring unit for interview selection. Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating the qualifications for interview.

 The certified list will be used by DLLR for a period of six months.

BENEFITS

Due to the contractual nature of the position, the selected candidate will be paid only for hours worked.

This position has no state-paid benefits (i.e. sick leave, annual leave, personal leave, holidays, health insurance, etc.). The person filling this position may purchase healthcare insurance at the state’s group rate.

Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification. A copy of your proof of eligibility (DD 214) for Veterans’ Credit must be in this office and completely verified before Veterans’ Credit will be approved.  Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of eligibility for Veterans’ Credit.
