Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible, in collaboration with the Correctional Training Unit Compliance Coordinator, for monitoring all aspects of the certification process to ensure compliance with COMAR regulations regarding training and instructor standards. By ensuring compliance with the certification mandates, this will ensure that all staff continues to maintain the appropriate and current certification as required by the Maryland Police and Training Commissions.

POSITION DUTIES

1) Maintain databases responsible for tracking employment, training, instructor and correctional certifications for employees of DPSCS.

2) Provide client support by resolving technical issues by email, phone, or in person regarding the use of current training, certification and employment databases.

3) Providing one-on-one training to assist personnel with using specific hardware or software.  

4) Assist with conducting training record reviews at all DPSCS Correctional Agencies to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

5) Assist with the creation and updating of procedures based on current regulations and assist with writing regulations as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: Three years’ experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
