Main Purpose of Job

The Stationary Engineer 1st Grade will function and demonstrate the ability to operate, control, troubleshoot, diagnose, and make appropriate repairs to the system problems or emergencies.The incumbent will maintain competency, proficiency, and licensing requirements via regular training, review, and demonstrate familiarity with OPM manuals, utility plans, emergency response plans, and all applicable safety and licensing requirements. The Stationary Engineer 1st Grade will complete situational or scenario problem solving, and appropriately demonstrates and applies knowledge skills to real problems or emergencies.There is a commitment to quality customer service and ability to work in-patient and clinical areas adhering to and utilizing applicable infection control procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Two years of experience in a boiler room facility tending a boiler.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute additional licensed stationary engineering experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a non-commissioned officer in Steelworker classifications or Mechanical Maintenance specialty codes in the Metal Fabrication, Assembly, Installation, and Repair field of work on year-for-year basis for the required experience.

 

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Stationary Engineer, First Grade from the State Board of Stationary Engineers. ( A copy of your license must be attached to your application. )

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the individual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
