To provide interment services and perpetual care of burial sites for eligible Maryland Veterans and their dependents and to give each and every interment a dignified burial.

Education: Completion of the sixth grade.

Experience: One year of experience in the operation of complex or specialized construction or maintenance equipment which has a pedal operated clutch and a multi-speed manual transmission.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Equipment Operator classifications or Equipment Operator and Vehicle Operator specialty codes in the Equipment Operation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following: Experience with maintenance and repair of heavy equipment AND Experience working in a cemetery setting.

Applicants for Motor Equipment Operator I/II and III must possess a valid Maryland Driver’s License depending on the type of equipment operated.  All applicants must list their license number and date of issue on the application.  Employees in the State Highway Administration, Department of Transportation may be required to obtain and maintain Departmental certification on several pieces of specialized seasonal equipment.

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
