Main Purpose of Job

To accurately perform data entry duties in accordance with established methods and procedures of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) of the Maryland State Police.

POSITION DUTIES

Enter data from Transportation Inspection Reports into our Safetynet Program. Enters/Certifies all incoming inspection reports sent in by carrier for compliance.

Performs general clerical duties such as opening mail, filing and retrieving records, answering telephone calls.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: One year of experience keying large amounts of alpha, numeric or symbolic data from source documents into a computer or onto magnetic tape or disk according to a production schedule.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the clerical support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to keyboard at forty words per minute on a standard keyboard or one hundred keystrokes per minute on data entry equipment.

2. Employees in this classification must meet production standards established by the employing agency.

SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  Successful candidates will be placed on the employment Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED OR QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination.  The list will be used by the hiring agency to select employees.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application.  Report all experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants may be given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
